White roller blinds on a wide living room window in Cape Town

Window Blinds Cape Town: Made-to-Measure Blinds for Every Room

Window Blinds Cape Town supplies, installs and repairs made-to-measure window blinds across the whole metro, from about R450 to R900 per square metre supplied and installed — roller, blockout, venetian, wooden and motorised blinds for any room. Most orders are measured within 24 to 48 hours and fitted in 7 to 14 working days. Free on-site measure and quote: call 081 411 8471.

Made to measure means each blind is manufactured to the measured opening rather than cut down from a stock size, so no two orders are interchangeable and a firm price needs an on-site measure rather than a phone estimate. What then decides the blind is the fabric’s openness — how much light the weave lets through — and the operation: chain, cord, wand or motor.

What Cape Town Does to a Blind

The same blind behaves differently on either side of the mountain. What decides whether it still works in five years is less the fabric than whether it was specified for the conditions at that window — the summer south-easter, salt air, the Cape’s UV, and winter condensation.

Cape Town condition What it does to a blind What to specify
Summer south-easter An open window with a free-hanging blind in front of it slaps against the reveal until the bracket works loose. Chain tensioners and hold-down brackets; vertical blinds across wide sliding doors.
Salt air (West Coast, Atlantic Seaboard, Gordon’s Bay and Strand) Salt attacks the metal — clutch, chain, brackets and screws — long before it reaches the fabric. Aluminium blinds with rust-resistant fittings; faux-wood in place of basswood.
High UV, north- and west-facing rooms Afternoon sun fades furniture, flooring and fabric. A 3–5% openness sunscreen roller blind — cuts glare and most UV, keeps the view.
Winter condensation Timber and basswood swell and stain; fabric holds the moisture long enough for mould to take. Aluminium or PVC faux-wood, which are unaffected — see wooden blinds.
Load-shedding A mains-wired motor stops with the power. Battery or solar motorised blinds, which store their own charge.

Which of these actually applies depends on where you are in the metro; each region page sets out what changes about a blind there.

How Long It Takes, and What Happens

A made-to-measure order runs 7 to 14 working days from measure to installation. We measure on site within 24 to 48 hours of your call, manufacture takes 5 to 10 working days, and fitting a typical home is one visit of one to three hours.

  1. Free on-site measure and quote — about fifteen minutes for a whole house, with fabric and slat samples on hand.
  2. Written quote on your exact sizes, fabrics and fittings. No charge, no obligation.
  3. Manufacture — 5 to 10 working days, at the longer end for imported fabrics and motorised systems.
  4. Installation — brackets levelled, blinds hung, chains tensioned and a walk-through of every window.
