Indicative Blind Prices (Supplied & Installed)
Prices vary with window size, fabric and fittings, so treat these as a guide only. A free on-site measure gives you an exact figure.

- Blockout roller blinds — from about R550–R1,000 per m².
- Aluminium venetian blinds — from about R400–R700 per m².
- Faux-wood & basswood blinds — about R900–R1,800 per m².
- Roman blinds — about R900–R2,200 per window.
- Vertical blinds — from about R400–R750 per m².
- Motorised blinds — about R2,500–R6,000 per blind; motorising an existing style adds ~R1,800–R3,500.
- Blind repairs — call-out from ~R350; common fixes R150–R600 plus parts.
What Affects the Price
- Window size and quantity (bulk orders are more economical per window).
- Fabric or slat choice — sunscreen openness, blockout, timber vs faux-wood.
- Manual vs motorised, and control add-ons like hubs and sensors.
- Fitting complexity — reveal type, wall material, height and access.
What Blinds Cost, Room by Room
Which blind suits a room and what that room costs to do are the same decision, so they are set out together here. The figures are supplied and installed, for a standard 1.5–1.8 m² opening, on the same rates used elsewhere on this page:
| Room / need | Usual choice | Typical cost | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bedroom or nursery | Blockout roller blinds | R830 – R1,800 | Full darkness for sleep and a cooler room in summer. |
| Living room (keep the view) | Sunscreen roller blinds (3–5%) | R680 – R1,600 | Cut glare and UV while keeping the view of the mountain or sea. |
| Bathroom, kitchen or coastal home | Aluminium or faux-wood venetians | R600 – R1,250 aluminium R1,350 – R3,200 faux-wood |
Resist moisture and salt air; will not warp. |
| Sliding doors or wide windows | Vertical blinds | R400 – R750 per m² wide spans are priced by area |
Draw neatly to the side; the most cost-effective for large spans. |
| High, hard-to-reach or load-shedding | Motorised blinds | R2,500 – R6,000 per blind | Remote/app control; battery and solar motors keep working when the power is off. |
| Warm, decorative look | Roman or wooden blinds | R900 – R2,200 roman R1,350 – R3,200 wooden |
Soft fabric folds or natural timber warmth for living areas. |
| Street-facing privacy with light | Venetian blinds | R600 – R1,250 | Tilt the slats for light at the top and privacy at eye level. |
How Much Does a Blind Cost on Average?
A typical Cape Town window costs about R700 to R1,500 for a roller blind supplied and installed. That is the most useful average, because blinds are priced by area rather than per unit — a small bathroom window and a wide living-room span carry very different prices for the same fabric.
Across the range, an average window works out roughly as follows:
| Blind type | Typical single window | Underlying rate |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminium venetian | R600 – R1,250 | R400 – R700 per m² |
| Vertical | R600 – R1,350 | R400 – R750 per m² |
| Roller | R680 – R1,600 | R450 – R900 per m² |
| Blockout roller | R830 – R1,800 | R550 – R1,000 per m² |
| Roman | R900 – R2,200 | priced per window |
| Faux-wood or basswood | R1,350 – R3,200 | R900 – R1,800 per m² |
| Motorised | R2,500 – R6,000 | priced per blind |
These assume a single window of about 1.5 to 1.8 square metres — a standard bedroom or living-room opening — and are simply the per-square-metre rates above applied to that area. Use the calculator at the top of the page for your own exact sizes, and note that a whole-house order is more economical per window than a single blind.
How to Compare Blind Quotes
Two quotations for the same window can differ by hundreds of rand and still both be honest, because blind suppliers do not all quote on the same basis. Five things make quotes comparable:
- Per square metre or per window? A per-m² rate reads cheaper than a per-window price until you apply it to a 3 m sliding door. Convert both quotes to the same basis before you compare them.
- Is fitting in the price? Supply-only is a different number from supplied and installed, and it looks cheaper because it leaves you to mount the headrail, set the brackets and get the blind level. Every figure on this page is supplied and installed — see blind installation for what that covers.
- Is the quotation VAT-inclusive? South African consumer prices are shown VAT-inclusive, so the number you compare should be the number you actually pay, not a rate with tax still to be added.
- Who measures, and does it cost anything? A free on-site measure is normal here. A price given off measurements you took yourself moves the risk of a mis-sized blind onto you, and a made-to-measure blind cut to the wrong size cannot be resold or returned.
- Is the fabric specified? “Roller blind” is not a specification. A 1% sunscreen, a 5% sunscreen, a dim-out and a blockout are four different fabrics at four different prices, and a quote that does not name the openness factor or the fabric grade is not yet comparable with one that does.

No. We offer a free, no-obligation on-site measure and quote anywhere in greater Cape Town.
